Venice...Bologna...Pisa...Wait! Where did I go?

It's February 14th. Happy Valentines Day or as some call it: Singles Awareness Day. We woke this morning to find a red rose for each of us taped to our door. We think they're from Bob but he won't say. Either way, it nice to get flowers today.

Today, Ania, Allyson, Betsy and I were planning on going to Bologna, having a great dinner, maybe spending the night, and returning Sunday morning to Firenze. Well, plans change. When we got to the stazione to buy our train tickets, the only ones available were Eurostar 1st class tickets. 96 Euro, one way, for the four of us. Needless to say, we did not go to Bologna today. Instead, we looked up taking a train to Pisa. Four tickets to Pisa only cost 22.40 Euro. We went to Pisa.

The train ride took about an hour and then we were in Pisa. We located the information place for tourists, got a map, and headed out. We first walked to this cute little church. And when I say little, I mean little. The church is tiny, smaller than any other church I've ever seen. I was soo cute and sat right next to the River Arno which also flows through Firenze. Next, we walked to the piazza where the Leaning Tower of Pisa is. We took a ton of pictures, went inside the Duomo there, then continued on. Inside the Duomo, though, was a tour group of Congressmen with full-on security detail. It was kind of cool to see.

After leaving the piazza, we walked around, got some gelato, then found somewhere to eat a very late lunch/early dinner. I ordered lasagna for the first time here in Italy and it was sooooo good. I ate it sooo quickly it was that good; cheesy and delicious. Mmmmmmmmm!

After we finished eating it was closing in of 5 pm. We decided to head back to Firenze and headed for the station. Now that we know how to purchase tickets and validate them we each did it individually. But, we still messed up concerning where to find our train. Instead of looking at the departure board, we looked at the arrival board. We get to the track that we thought would take us back to Firenze and find out that train is going somewhere else. We book it back to the station, realize our mistake and finally get on the right train. An hour later we're back in Firenze, hopping a bus up to Fiesole.

All of us a really tired still after everything that happened this week. I'm going to bed early and sleeping in late tomorrow. The four of us will probably watch a movie tonight after Ania and Allyson get back from a quick dinner. I'm uploading new photos today so definitely take a look. Ciao.
