Just a little walk through Lucca

Today began very early again at 7 am. Another quick breakfast and a ride on the #7 bus to the Stazione where we caught the train to Lucca. The ride in the train was only a little over an hour. We were in Lucca by 10:30 am. Bob took us on the quick tour on Lucca to the three major churches in the area. Lucca is a walled city, which is about 2.5 miles long. After the quick Bob tour, Eldon and I walked the entire 2.5 miles around the city, taking many pictures and just enjoying the scenery.

Afterward, we found the little pizza place that Bob pointed out on the tour. We shared a half of sausage pizza. It was really good after the long hot walk we had. After finishing the pizza, we walked back to the wall and sat on a bench on top. After a while, a few of the others from our group joined us on the wall and we sat around talking and having fun. We hopped back onto the train at 3:32pm and headed back toward Firenze.

The ride back to Firenze was quicker than the ride to Lucca. We made it back by five and were able to hope the #7 bus to Fiesole. A few of us got off at the stop to the Supermarket where we did a little grocery shopping. WE then made in back onto the bus and into Fiesole before our 70 minute ticket ran out. Now I'm blogging after calling the family. Tonight we're all taking it easy. A few girls went out to a basketball game while the rest of us are at Villa Bonelli playing cards a watching stupid movies. Tomorrow will be a day to sleep in and relax after the last two intense days.

  1. I suppose that you will not want to see another pizza when you come home. Sounds though like the senery makes up for the stress. I still would like that postcard.

  2. Pizza here is different from pizza at home. I don't know how to describe it but it just is. The scenery is the best part of this whole trip. I'll send a postcard soon, don't worry. Love you all!!!
